G. Donald Cribbs, MA, NCC, LPC
Donald has worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at an outpatient clinic providing individual and group counseling to patients struggling with active substance use disorder and has since completed his professional counselor licensure (LPC) which has been approved by the PA State Board. Prior to working with clients as a counselor he worked in a community mental health organization, and at times in an inpatient setting, with adults and children. He is a former teacher and has worked with children for the past 20 years. Donald was also a missionary in China for a year and a half following college.
Donald has worked as a counselor at In Him for the past 4 years.
Donald enjoys music, theater, art, and writing (both fiction and poetry) as outlets for self-care and encourages his clients to practice self-care by developing their own areas of interest as well.
Donald enjoys working with both individuals and couples, children and adults. Donald uses a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Formational Prayer, and Trauma-Informed Care, among others. It is Donald’s goal to meet the client where he, she, or they are at, and from that place, identify strengths, talents, assets, resources, and tools from which to develop and build a pathway to healing and wholeness. Donald incorporates resiliency and mindfulness tools among others to facilitate and support such growth in his clients.
Donald has a passion and a focus in the area of trauma recovery and is an author and advocate for change in this area of treatment. He is a proud member of the Bristlecone Project. His wife and four boys fill his life with love, meaning, and purpose along with his personal relationship with God which has been ongoing for nearly 50 years.
Donald supports and teaches individuals to dig in the dirt of themselves to excavate healing and recovery as they learn to move out of trauma, addiction, and abuse.
